On Saturday July 1st , European Space Agency - ESA EUCLID sattelite has been launched with SILIOS Technologies ' Large Grisms onboard.
The aim of ESA EUCLID mission is to understand why the expansion of the Universe is accelerating and what is the nature of the source responsible for this acceleration which physicists refer to as dark energy.
Inside EUCLID, among the two instruments is the NISP (Near Infrared Spectro Photometer) which has been produced under the supervision of the Laboratoire d'Astrophysique de Marseille (LAM). The NISP is the largest infrared focal plan ever launched in space.
SILIOS Technologies' team is very proud of having been chosen by LAM's NISP team to provide the 5 large curved gratings on prism (Grism) of the Grisms wheel of the NISP instrument. These worldwide unique 150mm size, 20mm thickness gratings are the result of a 3 year-intense close collaboration between CNRS LAM and SILIOS Technologies.
